BARS meeting report 7/5/17
Tom, K1TW, began the meeting at 7:05. A signup sheet was passed. Bruce, W1LUS, gave a treasurer’s report of $814.31 in the account. In addition, Tom passed to him the $106 collected from the Field Day donation jar. This would be added to the account.
There were two new attendees. Tom, K1THG, and Paula, KC1EDA.
Jesse, W1DEA, gave a brief Field Day report. Our Class 2E operation netted approximately 2900 points and nearly 200 SSB and CW QRP QSOs. Final paperwork and tallies to be done by Jesse. Jesse thanked Mike and Nan for providing the location, and Kayla and Nan for feeding everyone so well. Jay was also thanked for being the power system captain, and Kayla was thanked for the wealth of publicity she obtained. Henry was thanked for getting permission to park in the office lot across from Nan’s.
Tom proposed the next meeting would be an ice cream social, beginning at 6 PM, at Gary’s Ice Cream across from the Church. Should it be inclement weather/buggy, we would have a 7PM meeting at the Church instead. Tom suggested people bring chairs for the social. Everyone thought the social would be a good idea.
After formal club business, Tom introduced Stan Pozerski, KD1LE, who gave a super talk on HamSCI Experiment: NVARC and the Eclipse. The ecliplse of 8/21/17 is the subject of a propagation study, with amateurs and scientists working on tracking results with a QSO Party, Reverse Beacon Network data, and WSPR modes of operation. There was a lot of interest and many questions. Stan said the presentation is online at the NVARC website www.n1nc.org .
Meeting was adjourned for an informal auction of a DMM (netted $1) and several older study guides (also netting $1, proceeds given to BARS).
Meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.
