January Meeting Location is in Bedford MA
BARS meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 PM. This month’s meeting is very special as we greet the New Year, hold a New Year’s version of our traditional Yankee Swap, and are honored by the presence of Phil Temples K9HI outgoing ARRL Eastern Massachusetts (EMA) Section Manager (SM).

– Yankee Swap (Participation Optional for members)

– Brief Comments from our former (as of 1/1/2015) ARRL EMA Section Manager Phil Temples K9HI as he reflects on his many years as Section Manager.
Our Guest Speaker:
BARS welcomes Phil K9HI who is stepping down as the ARRL Section Manager (SM) for Eastern Massachusetts on December 31st. He served previous terms in office from 1994-1996, and 2001-2004. No long presentations tonight. Phil will offer some brief remarks and no doubt take a few questions. Phil will continue on as a Public Information Officer, Assistant SM, and an Assistant Director in the New England ARRL Division. Please take this opportunity to thank Phil for his years of service to the Ham Radio community.
How the Yankee Swap will work:
Participation is completely optional. If you wish to be part of the swap, bring a small wrapped gift with a value not to exceed $15. Each member participating will draw a number determining their order of selection. Then the fun begins as members get to swap previously drawn gifts until the final swap occurs. It all sounds a bit complicated, so we will describe the process at the meeting before the swap begins to ensure everyone understands the rules.

How to Register:
1. Those members who attended the December BARS meeting indicated their plan to attend and K1TW will re-confirm by email.
2. If you did not attend the BARS December meeting and want to join us at the meeting, please send an email to K1TW and indicate whether you will bring a guest or come alone.
IMPORTANT: We need to notify the restaurant of the number of attendees. So please be sure to be confirmed with Tom.
How the Dinner will work:
The Great Wall features a very nice Chinese Buffet which we anticipate most members will enjoy. Along with the buffet, tea and water is provided. The buffet cost is $21 per person, which you should give to K1TW upon your arrival at the Restaurant.
IMPORTANT REMINDER:
Beverages, other than Tea or Water, and items ordered from the main restaurant menu (other than the buffet) are an extra cost that are not included as part of the Club’s bill. These can be purchased individually by paying the waiter directly.

Coming from the North:
From Chelmsford and Billerica, follow Route 4 South into Bedford Center. Continue south on Routes 4/225 for about one mile (four traffic lights). At the 4th light (across from Papa Gino’s), turn right into the STOP and SHOP Shopping Center. The GREAT WALL is on the right hand side near the back.
Coming from the South via Route 128:
Take the Route 4/225 exit towards Bedford. Travel about 1.5 miles from Route 128 and at the 3rd Traffic Light get into the Left Turn Lane (across from Papa Gino’s). Turn left into the STOP and SHOP Shopping Center. The GREAT WALL is on the right hand side near the back.
